The U.S. wine market is today the largest and is expected to continue being the largest wine market worldwide over the coming decade. With an estimated market value of about 73 billion US dollars by 2025, the size of the US Market will be followed by France in the ranking with an estimated market value of around 39 billion US dollars, amounting to roughly half of the US wine market.

With wine imports representing about 26% of the total wine volume and 33% of total wine value, the US market is and will continue being one of the most attractive wine markets in the world both for imported and domestic wines.

For foreign wines finding the correct importer and importing model will be key to success in the large - yet complicated US market – due to its three-tier system. For domestic wines finding the correct distributor in each state or region will also be key to their success and growth.

 About Us

At MIW Consulting we have a team of wine professionals led by two industry veterans with a combined experience of over 80 years in the alcoholic beverage importing and distribution business. 

Founded in 2014 we have been helping producers from around the world find distribution and have helped them to also setup their own importing companies in the US through third party logistics with a minimum investment and not tax or legal liability.

We are also active in the Caribbean connecting wineries with the individual countries and islands, providing them with entry-level to high-end wines from different wineries, as well as private labels for resorts,  hotel groups, airlines  and cruise lines.

We are fluent in English, Spanish and German and have consulted for several international wineries since establishing MIW Consulting, offering independent importing solutions to small and large producers in the US.

We are experts in wine importing, marketing, sales and distribution, and have a deep understanding for the wine industry from ‘grape to glass’, with one of our partners being a Master of Wines and one also being a WSET certified wine educator. 

What We Do

We manage a database of close to 10,000 US importers and distributors. 

We are in contact with many of them on  a regular basis and we help domestic and foreign producers solicit:
  • Importer(s)
  • Distributors
Depending on the level of engagement each producer is interested in, we contact a predetermined number of importers and/or distributors monthly with the proper reporting back to our clients.

Once a match is made, we assist the producer with the information needed to send samples and continue helping with the process for the producer and importer and/or distributor to achieve an agreement to work together.

We continue assisting the producer in their relationship with the importer and/or distributor, until the first orders are placed and shipped.

How We Work

Prospective producers interested in our services contact us to discuss their brand and expectations for the US Market.

Once we agree that the conditions are met, we will request marketing material from the producers and we will put together a standarized Introduction Package to solicit the importers and/or distributors.

We will agree on an approximate number of potential importers and/or distributors to be approached on a monthly basis.

Any new information about the products or about the producer will be incorporated to the Introduction Package.

Our clients will receive a progress report on a monthly basis detailing who has been contacted and what the level of interest and advance is.

Once a potential importer or distributor has been identified, we will involve the producer in the process and will assist the producer to reach an agreement with the importer or distributor.

We will continue assisting the producer until the first orders are placed, shipped, received and paid for.

The producer has then the opportunity for us to continue searching further importers/distributors, depending on the initial agreement of solicitation.

Our primary service for alcoholic beverage producers from around the world is the solicitation of importer(s) and distributors for all 50 US states and in the Caribbean.

  • Conduct educational tastings for producers with the trade.
